Most, if not all of these will require root access, so put sudo before apt-get and enter your password when promted.

apt-get install axel (command line download manager)
apt-get install nmap (network tool – powerful, but don’t have a clue how to use it yet – answers on a postcard)
apt-get install ubuntustudio-look (ubuntu studio themes)
apt-get install kubuntu-desktop (kubuntu KDE3.5 & apps)
apt-get install kubuntu-kde4-desktop (as above but with KDE4)
apt-get install amarok
apt-get install libgtk2-ruby (needed for wiki-lyrics in Amarok)
apt-get install preload (prefetch tool – speed boost for frequently used apps)
apt-get install gcstar (GCstar collection manager)

With Medibuntu repository added

apt-get install googleearth (Google Earth)
apt-get install pingus (Lemmings clone but with Penguins)
apt-get install libdvdcss2 (DVD codecs)
apt-get install w32codecs (media codecs for 32bit systems)
apt-get install w64codecs (media codecs for 64bit systems)
